Healthy meals for children
Child Care Council of Nassau, Inc. announced the continued sponsorship of the Child and Adult Care Food Program through the New York State Department of Health, to family and child-care providers. The program is designed to ensure that nutritious meals and snacks are served in child-care homes and to provide education, oversight and reimbursement to child-care providers.
"All research indicates that children who receive proper nutrition in their formative years build a foundation for a healthier life and are better learners. Program staff work very closely with family and group-family child-care providers, assisting them in learning about healthy eating habits and, more importantly, how to instill these habits in the children they care for in their homes," states Linda Showell, CACFP coordinator at Council.
If you are a child-care provider who would like to be a part of this food program, or if you are a parent interested in finding out about child-care providers enrolled in CACFP, please contact Linda Showell at (516) 358-9250, ext. 27.
