Shootout Cancer, a non-profit organization which raises funds to assist those battling cancer, hosted its fifth annual basketball event on June 16 at Lawrence High School in Cedarhurst to raise money for families afflicted by the disease. Participants donated $10 and enjoyed basketball activities and competitions while spectators donated $5 to the cause.
Aside from people shooting hoops, there were door prizes and raffles. The event was organized by Brian Davis, a coach in the Valley Stream Basketball League, and raised $2,300 including a $1,000 donation from TD Bank.
