A Valley Stream resident, who was driving, was stopped by Nassau County police and found to be intoxicated at 10:44 p.m. on Sept. 5, police said.
Officers saw a 2024 Honda CRV traveling west on Sunrise Highway failing to stay in one driving lane. Police stopped the vehicle near Brooklyn Avenue and 6th Street in Valley Stream.
After the subsequent investigation, Elmer Martinez-Serrano, 28, of Derby Street, was arrested. A three-year old girl was a passenger. She was released to a family member. There were no injuries.
Martinez-Serrano is being charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated (which is called Leandra’s Law, if a passenger is less than 16), driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and multiple vehicular traffic violations.
He will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Sept. 6.
