Eight involved in robbery outside Valley Stream movie theater

A man was robbed at gunpoint by more than a half-dozen people outside of the Sunrise Cinemas on Monday night. According to Nassau County Police, a 31-year-old male was walking through the rear parking lot at about 6:45 p.m. when he was approached from behind by eight males.

Police say two of the men displayed .9mm handguns and held them to each side of the victim’s face. A third male pulled out a silver gun and held it to the front of the victim’s face. Then, police say, a fourth suspect took out a gun and struck the victim in the face. The suspects emptied the victim’s pockets, taking $170 in cash. They then fled on foot towards the Queens border.

The victim went to the Fifth Precinct to report the incident. He suffered swelling and cuts to his face, and was treated by a Nassau County Police Department ambulance medical technician.

According to the victim’s description, seven of the eight subjects were wearing bandanas over their faces. The eighth suspect was described as a black male with brown eyes.
