The Valley Stream Pool opened its gates this Saturday for the 2019 summer season. The pool, located at the Arthur J. Hendrickson Park, has been a staple of the village for nearly 60 years.
“It’s Valley Stream’s hidden jewel,” Mayor Ed Fare said, noting that although facility might not catch the eye of the average resident driving down Merrick Road, upon stepping inside, he said “It’s beautiful and lush, with gardens and banana trees … [Valley Streamers] don’t have to drive far to find a nice, little oasis right here.”
The village pool is all about community, according to pool manager Rich DeAngelis. “There’s great people here,” he said of the staff. “It’s relaxing, and well-maintained. It has a country club-atmosphere in a municipal park.”
“It’s probably the best-priced ticket on Long Island,” he added. “I’d put it up against anybody.”
