New sign is not big enough

To the Editor:

Recently, the village installed an electronic message board in the pool parking lot close to the fence on Merrick Road. In theory this is a great idea. It would get rid of all the posters and banners that are hung on the fence announcing upcoming  village activities.

The problem is that not much thought was put into the size of this message board. The size is inadequate for anyone driving by to see the full message. There was enough room to install a larger, more effective sign, like the sign on Sunrise Highway that Freeport High School installed. I applaud the mayor and the village board for improvement, but they should reconsider upgrading to a larger sign. A car was actually stopped in front of me, trying to read the message.
