A house fire in Valley Stream seriously injured one woman in the early morning of Aug. 27, according to officials. The blaze in the two-story Cape Cod-style home was first reported at 6:10 a.m on North Terrace Place.

A resident who was trapped inside was rescued by Valley Stream and Elmont firefighters and taken to Nassau County Medical Center in East Meadow in serious condition. There were no other injuries reported.

In addition to Valley Stream and Elmont, Hewlett, Lawrence-Cedarhurst, Inwood and Woodmere volunteers fought the fire — roughly 65 in total — and brought the fire under control in 45 minutes, officials said.

The home was searched and ventilated afterward, according to the Hewlett Fire Department. The Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office and police from the county’s Arson/Bomb Squad are investigating the cause of the fire.
