Valley Stream cell phone store robbed

A Verizon Wireless store in Valley Stream was robbed at gunpoint on Sunday afternoon, and police are seeking the man responsible.

According to Nassau County Police, an unknown man entered Cellular City at 60 E. Merrick Road shortly before 5 p.m. and asked the 34-year-old clerk, who was working alone, if there were any iPhones. When the employee said yes, the robber pulled out a gun and demanded money and cell phones.

The store clerk complied, and then was told to lie down. The suspect fled in an unknown direction. He is described as a black male, 25 years old, 6-feet tall with a medium build wearing a black hat, dark hooded sweatshirt and black gloves. He was carrying a black handgun.
