Students and families received free backpacks and school supplies through a Back2School distribution hosted by Assemblywoman Michaelle Solages in Valley Stream on Sept. 1.

The two-hour program, held at Solages’ district office, helped families prepare for the start of the new school year by providing students with materials needed for the classroom.

Fraport USA, JFK Terminal 5, ICNA Relief USA, the Auschwitz Jewish Center Foundation and TD BANK supported the distribution. The event was part of ongoing efforts to connect families throughout the district with resources and opportunities that support students.

ICNA Relief USA officials said the organization was grateful for Solages’ continued partnership and commitment to children and families.

“Her support of our Back2School initiative reflects a shared belief that every child deserves to begin the school year with confidence, dignity, and the resources they need to succeed,” officials said. “Through strong partnerships with community leaders like Assemblymember Solages, we are able to turn compassion into meaningful action and reach families who need us most.”

Her brother, Nassau County Legislator Carrié Solages, Legislator Cynthia Nuñez and Lisa Vider, who helped distribute backpacks and supplies to students and families, joined Solages.

“Fraport USA in partnership with JetBlue and concession partners was proud to have provided backpacks and school supplies to more than 2,000 children across Southeast Queens and South Nassau,” said Jose Cuevas vice-president, JFK Terminal 5 | Fraport USA. “Through eight community distribution events, including one in Valley Stream in partnership with Assemblymember Michaelle Solages, we were able to bring the impact of JFK Terminal 5 directly into the communities we serve.”
