Families and players gathered on April 18 at the Fireman’s Field Clubhouse for the annual uniform distribution hosted by the Valley Stream Little League, marking a key step in preparation for the upcoming season.

The event provided registered players across all divisions with their team uniforms ahead of Opening Day, scheduled for April 25. The league, now entering its 68th season, serves a wide range of age groups, from tee-ball for children as young as 4 to more advanced divisions for early teenagers.

Uniform handout day is one of several preseason activities that help organize teams and ensure players are ready for the start of games. The league typically runs through late June, with additional opportunities for continued participation into the fall.

Operated entirely by volunteers, the organization coordinates team assignments, scheduling and equipment distribution in the weeks leading up to Opening Day. Players will go on to participate in a season that typically includes 15 to 20 games, depending on scheduling and weather.

Younger divisions primarily play within the village, while older teams compete against neighboring communities as part of district play under the broader Little League structure.

The event reflected the league’s ongoing efforts to prepare for another season of youth baseball and softball, continuing a longstanding community tradition centered on local participation and organized play
