Valley Stream residents came out to Hendrickson Park for the Valley Stream Community Fest, where the village’s community spirit was on full display.
The festival, hosted by the Valley Stream Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Valley Stream, took place Sept. 19 and kept families busy throughout the day. Sarah Parsuram, 15, took on the Marine Corps pull-up challenge, while Gilda Nitzan, 15, and Melanie Alcantara, 14, showed off their martial arts skills. Danse Xpressions also took the stage, with young dancers performing for the crowd.
Children had plenty to enjoy, including games and activities around the park.
The Valley Stream Volunteer Fire Department also welcomed families throughout the day. Children climbed inside fire trucks, learned about firefighting equipment and took part in the department’s Fire Education Smoke Trailer. Firefighters also held a vehicle-extrication demonstration, giving residents a closer look at how crews work to free people trapped in vehicles after crashes.
The festival gave Valley Stream families a chance to spend the day together while showcasing activities that make up the village community.
