The Seaford community once again declared that it would never forget the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, recently selecting five Seaford High School seniors for scholarships in the annual presentation of the Patriot Awards.

Amanda Barney has been named the assistant superintendent for curriculum and assessment and Debbie Langone will serve as the executive director for instructional technology and STEAM.

The state’s decision to ban school logos and mascots depicting Native Americans has caused a fierce debate in Wantagh — one of the districts that would be forced to abandon its longtime Warriors name. It is an “arbitrary” ruling, as State Sen. Steve Rhoads describes it, that Rhoads refuses to accept.

In early June, Seaford High School students Myles Schnaier — Salutatorian of the class of 2023 — and his sister Rachel — an upcoming junior — organized a book drive and donated 1,020 books to the Book Fairies, a non-profit organization that distributes new and gently used books to under-resourced communities on Long Island.
