Jerusalem Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution announce essay winners

Local Jerusalem Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution recently held their annual award luncheon at the Wantagh Public Library on March 13 for the winners of the student essay contests.

Wantagh High School students were asked to write about a Patriot from the American Revolution and discuss how he/she influenced the course of the war. 11th grade winner Francesco Pellicoro wrote his paper on Benjamin Franklin and titled it "The Architect Man of the American Revolution".

The Wantagh Middle School essay topic was to write about John Phillip Sousa and his march called "The Stars and Stripes Forever".

First place 7th grade winner awarded to Kate Stivali. First place 8th grade winner awarded to Gianna Fitzpatrick.

The Elementary level flag essay award titled "What the Flag of the United States means to me", was awarded to Forest Lake School 5th grader Tiago Sapienza.

The Jerusalem Chapter Daughter's of the American Revolution congratulated all the winners. The luncheon was attended by parents, teachers, administrators and DAR members.
