Gordon raises $1.79 million in third quarter

In the second quarter of the year, Jackie Gordon boasted a substantial fundraising advantage over her opponent, Assemblyman Andrew Garbarino, in the race for Rep. Peter King’s Second Congressional District seat. Fresh off of her June primary win, she then raised an additional $1.6 million with $1.1 cash-on-hand.

Now, as the November general election nears and the third quarter of this year has come to an end, Gordon sits atop a campaign chest with more than $3.4 million, including the  $1.79 million raised from July to the end of September.

“I am proud to have the support of so many Long Islanders who are stepping up to contribute their time and hard-earned dollars to support our campaign,” Gordon said in a press release acknowledging her accomplishment. “Together, we are building a grassroots, people-powered campaign that is focused on the issues that matter to Long Island families: expanding access to health care; lowering the cost of prescription drugs; and providing tax relief to families and small businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Gordon’s third quarter fundraising has more than doubled her total fundraising efforts.

During the three-month period, Gordon received contributions from more than 14,800 unique donors. Of those donors, 92 percent of the contributions she received were for less than $200. The Gordon campaign said that this “demonstrates the grassroots support” behind her campaign.

“These fundraising numbers are a reflection of the tremendous support behind Jackie’s candidacy. Long Islanders want a representative who will rise above divisive partisan politics to put working families first, which is exactly what Jackie will do in Congress. Unlike our opponent, Jackie isn’t taking a dime from corporate PACs, because she’s running to represent Long Islanders, not corporate special interests,” said Meg Scribner, Gordon’s campaign manager.

Gordon has used a portion of these contributions to launch two television ads.
