This weekend, Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh will host an annual fundraiser that will support members of law enforcement and their families.

Law Enforcement Weekend's Holiday Concert will take place Saturday, Jan. 15, at Mulcahy's. The fundraiser will begin at 7 p.m. and will feature a live auction,  prizes, food and drinks, and live music from New York-based Irish band, Shilelagh Law.

Town of Hempstead Supervisor Don Clavin, Councilman Anthony D'Esposito, Councilman Chris Carini, Law Enforcement Officers Weekend vice president Zachary Grunther and others gathered outside of Mulcahy's on Wednesday to announce and promote the upcoming event.

"We respect the blue in the Town of Hempstead," Clavin said at the press conference. "We embrace the blue in the Town of Hempstead. We love the blue in the Town of Hempstead and we support them, and we're going to do it proudly this weekend at Mulcahy's."

Grunther said all proceeds from the fundraiser will provide opportunities for weekend getaways for members of law enforcement and their families affected by a line of duty death or serious injury.

"If you come to this event and help us raise this money, you're also going to help put smiles back on these families' faces," Grunther said at the press conference.

Retired New York Police Department officer D'Esposito, who helped organize the event, said he's worked with nonprofit organization LEO Weekend since its inception in 2016. The Mulcahy's show will be the third annual benefit concert co-organized by LEO Weekend.

"[The Town of Hempstead] always embraces the work that they do, because of the work and the love that they give back," D'Esposito said at the press conference.

According to a town press release, the nonprofit has helped provide trips for 42 families from 14 different states across 22 law enforcement organizations.

"As a former detective in the NYPD, I know the many hardships faced by law enforcement families," D'Esposito added. "I encourage Town residents to attend this event in appreciation for everything that our men and women in uniform do to keep our communities safe."

LEO Weekend is expected to host its fourth annual Lake George Weekend from June 16 to 19, its third annual Long Beach Weekend from July 28 to 31 and its second annual Miami Weekend from Oct. 6 to 10.

All Island Taxi will provide free taxi cab rides home for any law enforcement personnel who attend the Mulcahy's fundraiser.

General admission is $20 per person. Special ticket packages are available. To purchase tickets, go online to: https://leoweekend.com/product/holiday-concert-at-mulcahys-jan-15-2022/.
