Surrounded by green lights and St. Patrick’s Day decorations, the Wantagh-Seaford community raised a glass and said “Sláinte” last Thursday to Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder.

The Wantagh Chamber of Commerce hosted its Grand Marshal dinner at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall on March 10. Traditional Irish fare — the classic corn beef and mashed potatoes — was served, followed by live performances from Wantagh-based Show Stompin’ Irish Dancers and the Wantagh American Legion Pipe Band.

The dinner operated as a preview of sorts to the Chamber’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, slated for March 20 at 2 p.m. Ryder, who was named the Grand Marshal in 2020, will lead the parade, which will begin at Wantagh High School and conclude on Railroad Avenue.
