Village resident Ed Asip, right, was sworn in as the new president of the Rockville Centre Lions Club by outgoing president Bill Kurrus last month. Asip is a married father of three, a member of the Oceanside Kiwanis Club and the Knights of Columbus. He also donates many hours to the newly formed Rockville Centre Youth Council and loves to golf in his spare time.

The Rockville Centre Lions Club hosted its 12th annual Duck Race and fall fair at Centennial Park at Mill River on a beautiful recent October Saturday. In total, 4,000 rubber ducks set sail on Mill River in a competition for who would finish first during the afternoon event.

Attention all singing sensations — the Rockville Centre Lions want to hear from you! The local chapter of the Lions Club will be introducing a new performance showcase for children between the ages of 5 and 18 at its annual Duck Race, which is scheduled for Oct. 2 from noon to 4 p.m. at Centennial Park at Mill River.
