Local movie-goers looking for a different experience than your typical summer blockbuster need look no further than their own backyard. The Long Island International Film Expo, hosted by the Long Island Film/TV Foundation, will return to the Bellmore Movies this week. The 13th annual expo will kick off with a preview night on Thursday, July 8, and an informal wine and cheese reception on Friday, July 9, at 5 p.m. for all ticket holders. more
Menswear designer John Bartlett held another pet adoption event at his namesake store at Charles and 7th Ave. South on April 17. In conjunction with North Shore Animal League America, Bartlett hosted the event with hundreds of pet lovers stopping by to ooh and awww -- and to even give some of the cute dogs and cats new, loving homes. more
The Island Park Theatre Group, in conjunction with the Island Park Union Free School Recreation Department, presented “On Broadway - A Musical Revue” last weekend. A cast of 70 locals actors, dancers and singers entertained the audience at the Lincoln Orens Middle School in Island Park - and the IPTG broke records with its ticket sales. more
