The Baldwin Public Library’s second-floor Community Room was decked out in pink on Sept. 25 as patrons gathered for Dolly Day, a six-hour movie marathon celebrating country music icon Dolly Parton and her film career.

Library staff dressed in pink for the occasion, while butterfly decorations, sparkling accents and pink party cups added to the theme.  Attendees could also take photos with a life-size standee of Parton.

The marathon featured three films starring Parton: the 1980 workplace comedy “9 to 5,” with Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin; the 1982 musical comedy “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas,” with Burt Reynolds; and the 1989 drama “Steel Magnolias,” which follows the friendships and hardships of a close-knit group of women in a small Louisiana town and features an ensemble cast including Sally Field, Shirley MacLaine, Olympia Dukakis, Daryl Hannah and Julia Roberts.

Guests could snack on popcorn throughout the marathon. COBS Bread donated its “Fun Buns” – buns topped with cream cheese icing and sprinkles – for attendees.

The free celebration ran from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  No registration was required.
