A well-balanced attack has carried Kennedy to a 7-2 start on the hardwood, and more impressively, a 5-1 mark in Conference AA-III that had the Cougars in a three-way tie for first place at the start of the week.

Kennedy High School senior Josh Cohen spent the summer of 2010 peering into a high-powered microscope at SUNY Stony Brook to study aerosols –– solids and liquids suspended inside gas molecules that were so small they were imperceptible to the human eye.

Three Kennedy High School students were recently named winners in the PTA’s 2010-11 Reflections contest, which is intended to promote art and music in young people. The theme of this year’s Reflections contest was “Together We Can…” Kennedy’s winners are, from left, Rachel Spector (literature), Sarah Wolk (art) and Alexandra Perez (photography). Perez’s entry went on to the Nassau County Reflections competition and was again named a winner. The entry now moves on to the state competition.

When Mallory Cogen became head coach of the Kennedy High School varsity cheerleading squad two years ago, she was determined to restore the program to the level of success it enjoyed when she was a Kennedy cheerleader.

When it comes to school, my philosophy is that almost everything follows the “10-year rule.” That is, in 10 years, nearly all students will probably forget almost everything that they have learned unless they continue to use the knowledge they have acquired. Because of this, classes cannot be based on rote memorization.
