The Nassau County Department of Public Works is shipping raw sewage from the Bay Park treatment plant in East Rockaway to this pumping station on Merrick Road in Merrick. The sewage is then piped to the Cedar Creek treatment plant in Wantagh. The plan is a temporary fix for mechanical problems at Bay Park.

Demolition began two weeks ago on the building at the southeast corner of Rockaway Avenue and Sunrise Highway in Valley Stream, the former site of the adult store.
