Janice Walsh, of East Meadow, made an impression of her brother-in-law Gerry Walsh’s name, which is etched on the new Town of Hempstead 9/11 memorial in Point Lookout. Gerry Walsh, a firefighter who had retired from the FDNY, spent months taking part at ground zero in the rescue and recovery efforts. He died on Nov. 11, 2014, of blood cancer related to his work at the site, at the age of 58. His wife, Hope Walsh, was among many 9/11 widows who came to help dedicate the town’s memorial on Monday.
