South Bellmore resident Genevieve Kreindel is celebrating Women’s History Month by hosting a series of events designed to empower women and showcase local women-owned businesses through her organization, Off Duty Moms Club.
“This month is all about putting a spotlight on strong, intelligent women and creating spaces where they can connect, learn and thrive,” Kreindel said. “If my business is there to empower women, I want to help make money for other women-owned businesses.”
The club’s networking event, dubbed “The 6 p.m. Edition,” took place March 12 at Olive It in Merrick. Unlike her consumer-focused events, this gathering was designed specifically for women entrepreneurs to connect and collaborate. Kreindel said the $15 ticket price was intentionally kept low to make the event accessible to newer or leaner businesses.
Later this month, the club will host “Bags, Charms and Besties,” a creative workshop at the same venue on March 21, where participants will weave handbags under the guidance of the woman-owned business Woven Intents. The event will also feature collaboration with the podcast brand Not Your Average Mom.
Planning each event requires careful attention to detail, from coordinating with collaborators to creating an inclusive environment where attendees feel welcome whether they come solo or with friends.
“I live in the community. I’m a parent in the community. People who follow me go to my gym, they’re on the PTA that I’m part of. It’s really important to me that I deliver the best experience possible,” she said.
Interest in the club has grown quickly. Its Instagram account recently surpassed 2,000 followers, a milestone Kreindel described as both exciting and humbling. She regularly shares content on fitness, self-care, relationships and mental health, emphasizing realistic, manageable changes rather than perfection.
While the club initially centered on supporting mothers navigating pandemic isolation, Kreindel emphasized that its mission now extends to all women.
“This is not just a place for moms,” she said. “I’m a women’s mental health advocate. I’m here to make women’s lives easier, because it’s challenging being a mom, but it’s also challenging being a woman.”
Her husband, Lee Kreindel, added: “Women are the strongest people in the world and should be celebrated. I’m happy Genevieve is helping moms celebrate themselves not just for Women’s History Month, but all year long.”
Kreindel said she plans to continue hosting events and producing content year-round, not just in March. She wants women to know they can take time for themselves, reconnect with hobbies, and build meaningful connections with others in the community.
“Supporting women is something we should be doing every single day,” she said.
