Mepham High School to hold 6th annual Flag Field of Honor

Posted

Wellington C. Mepham High School’s front lawn will soon be filled with American flags once again as part of its annual Flag Field of Honor benefit for the Bellmore-Merrick Community Cupboard.

Residents can support their family members and friends in the armed services by sponsoring a flag to be flown at the high school between Nov. 7 and Dec. 8. American flags are $20 each, or 3 for $50, and U.S. Military Branch and POW*MIA flags are $50 each. All sponsorships include a keepsake 3x5 flag.

Proceeds will benefit the Senior Service Learning Project’s partnership with the Community Cupboard, which was established in 2016 to provide food for local families. Since the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cupboard has seen an increase in the number of residents in need, and through the generous donations of the Bellmore-Merrick community, it can continue to provide.

For more information or to sponsor a flag, contact Kerry Dennis or Chris Patten at (516) 992-1500 or via email at kdennis@bmchsd.org or cpatten@bmchsd.org.
