No tricks, just treats in Bellmore at the annual Halloween Parade and Trunk or Treat

Costumes, candy and Halloween spirit filled downtown Bellmore last Saturday as families gathered for the Chamber of Commerce of the Bellmore’s annual Halloween Parade and Trunk or Treat.

Children dressed as superheroes, cartoon characters, witches and other spooky figures joined their families for an afternoon of trick-or-treating, bringing a festive atmosphere to Bedford Avenue.

The Oct. 24 celebration began outside Bellmore Movies on Pettit Avenue, where families assembled before parading up Bedford Avenue. Participating merchants displayed “Mr. Pumpkin” in their windows, welcoming costumed children to stop by for Halloween treats as spooky music played throughout the festivities.

Local businesses joined in the fun, including Pierogibites & More and Bedford Ave Deli, where children stopped to collect candy. Families showed off an assortment of creative costumes, from characters inspired by “SpongeBob SquarePants” and “PAW Patrol” to Spider-Man and other Halloween favorites.

The festivities continued at the Bellmore Long Island Rail Road parking lot on Broadway, where the chamber hosted its Trunk or Treat celebration. Decorated displays featured pumpkins, skeletons, hay bales and other Halloween decorations, providing colorful backdrops for attendees to enjoy.

Bellmore Memorial Library also joined the celebration with an “Inside Out”-inspired display, featuring staff members dressed as Joy, Sadness and Anger from the animated film.

The chamber provided a Halloween-themed photo backdrop, giving parents another opportunity to capture memories of their children in costume.

The annual event brought together local merchants, families and community organizations for a day of Halloween fun, transforming downtown Bellmore into a destination for trick-or-treaters of all ages.
