Second grade students at Reinhard Early Childhood Center in Bellmore step into leadership roles

Second graders at Reinhard Early Childhood Center kicked off a new year of leadership and service when the school’s Student Star Polisher Team held its first meeting Sept. 25.

Nearly 40 students met with Principal Kerri Ann Sanpietro to discuss ways they will take on leadership roles throughout the school year. Their first volunteer assignment will come during Reinhard’s schoolwide pep rally, where team members will welcome their classmates into the auditorium by cheering with pompoms.

The pep rally will feature teachers dressed in costumes for a performance incorporating the Bellmore School District’s Leadership Principles and Core Values.

At their first meeting, students also created colorful posters featuring positive messages to display throughout the school.

The Student Star Polisher Team gives second graders opportunities to develop leadership skills while making a difference in their school community. Through the program, students practice teamwork, respect and dedication as they take on responsibilities alongside their classmates.
