East Rockaway High School senior Paul Lynch has been selected to perform with the New York State School Music Association’s All-State Mixed Chorus.

Lynch will travel to Rochester in December for the NYSSMA All-State Conference, where he will rehearse and perform alongside student musicians from across New York State under the direction of a guest conductor.

Students are considered for All-State after performing a solo for a NYSSMA adjudicator during the previous school year. Those who earn a score of 98 or higher can be recommended for consideration, with selections also taking into account teacher and adjudicator recommendations, previous NYSSMA scores and participation in other performing groups.

For his adjudication last spring, Lynch performed “Wheels of a Dream” from the Broadway musical “Ragtime.” He plans to continue pursuing performance in college next year.

East Rockaway High School choral director Seanna Silver helped guide and coach Lynch throughout the selection process.
