Brianna Valerio, 20, of Elmont, was arrested around 2 p.m. on March 30 for distributing drugs to an inmate at the East Meadow Nassau County Correctional Center, at 100 Carmans Ave. in East Meadow. After Valerio had visited the inmate, prison officials noticed the inmate hiding an object in his hand — a taped ball that was later determined to be marijuana and ecstasy.

Is Kate Murray really a fiscal conservative?
To the Editor:
If you go to Town of Hempstead Supervisor Kate Murray’s Web page, it states, “residents can at least count on one level of government to be fiscally responsible and accountable.” The recent investigations into the operation of the Hempstead Animal Shelter in Wantagh has shown that Murray is not very eager to be accountable to the public, or fiscally responsible.

Pat Horan has been reassigned to a position outside of the shelter, according to Hempstead Town Supervisor Kate Murray, pending the outcome of an investigation into the circumstances surrounding a video that depicted Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter employees making obscene gestures, and chanting "Kill the kitty," which quickly went viral on YouTube this morning.
