This year’s SIDMUN event was my first; I became a member of the Model United Nations program in September, and I’ve valued and loved every second of the program ever since. Twenty students from H. Frank Carey High School’s Jazz Ensemble competed at the Berklee College of Music’s 44th annual High School Jazz Festival on March 10, at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. Up for grabs was $175,000 in scholarships to Berklee's Five-Week Summer Performance Program. more
H. Frank Carey High School was crowned the winner of Sewanhaka Central High School District’s annual District Sports Night on Feb. 29, held at Carey. Students in grades 7-12 from Carey, as well as Elmont Memorial, Sewanhaka, Floral Park Memorial and New Hyde Park Memorial high schools competed in various games, including Tug-of-War and relay races. more
In support of Habitat World Day, and to raise awareness of the current housing crisis and the need for adequate housing in Nassau, local residents participated in Habitat For Humanity of Nassau County’s three-mile Walk-A-Thon on Oct. 30, at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow. Among those residents were several H. Frank Carey High School students, who recently created a Habitat For Humanity club to support HFHNC. more

Elmont’s upset loss to last-place Westbury kept the door to the Nassau Conference AA-III boys’ soccer title open for Carey and set up a winner-take-all showdown between the Spartans and Seahawks. more
The H. Frank Carey High School’s first-ever traveling boys’ lacrosse team — comprised of 20 9th, 10th and 11th-graders — competed throughout the state this summer, completing its season with a 4-7-2 record. The team was initiated by Tom Aiello and Anthony Tufano, head varsity coaches at Carey, and played 13 games this summer, including two local tournaments at SUNY Farmingdale and Hofstra University, and the Tri-State Tournament, which was held in New Jersey. more
Elmont entered its Week 3 Nassau Conference II football game against visiting Carey with back-to-back shutouts, but the Spartans ran into a flock of angry birds. more
