Two Elmont men were arrested on Jan. 30 at 11:56 a.m., for firing a shot gun with live ammunition inside a home on Pelham Street, according to Nassau County’s 5th Precinct.

According to police, 5th Precinct officers received a call in Elmont on Monday regarding shots being fired in the vicinity of Marguerite Avenue. The officers who were assigned to investigate were informed by a witness that Corey Hill, 39, and Kareem A. Vaz, 22, both Elmont residents, were observed behind a property located at 63 Marguerite Avenue, holding a shot gun.

Officers then went to Hill’s Pelham Street home, where Bureau of Special Operations officers located them and placed them under arrest, and the gun — along with live ammunition and spent casings — were found inside of Hill’s home, police said. No injuries were reported.

Hill and Vaz were charged with second-degree reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm, and they were issued Desk Appearance Tickets to appear in First District Court in Hempstead on Feb. 9.
