Polk Street School pre-k students discussed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his “dream,” outlined in his famous March on Washington speech on Aug. 28, 1963, in honor of MLK Day on Jan. 17.

“The class read ‘All Are Welcome,’ a children’s book about a school where diversity and inclusion are celebrated,” the Franklin Square Union Free School District said in a statement. “They also talked about how being a friend to everyone is how the world can change,” the statement read. Additionally, students created their own “This is how I can be a true friend” illustrations.
