Sewanhaka High School will be closed Monday, Sept. 14, after the building sustained significant water damage over the weekend, Superintendent Regina M. Agrusa said.
The closure was made as a precaution while facilities crews assess the damage and begin cleanup. No classes or campus programs, including CTE, PACE and Prestige, will be held Monday.
Administrative and maintenance staff are working with remediation specialists to remove standing water, dry affected areas and inspect classrooms to make sure the building is safe for students and staff.
School officials said an update on the building and plans for the rest of the week is expected Monday afternoon. Athletic games and practices will continue as scheduled because the athletic areas were not affected.
Parents, guardians and staff with questions can contact Principal John Kenny or Agrusa.
