Shoplifting team steals merchandise from Elmont CVS

Posted

A group of shoplifters stole $582 in merchandise from a CVS store located on Dutch Broadway in Elmont on Nov. 4, shortly after 2:30 p.m., according to Nassau County's 5th Precinct detectives.

According to police, at 2:30 p.m., a female store manager observed two men walking into the store. Minutes later, a customer told the manager that she believed the two men were placing items from shelves in shopping bags, police said.

According to police, the subject or subjects — the number of individuals involved in this crime is unknown at this time — then removed the merchandise from the CVS store without permission or authority, and exited the store, passing all points of purchase without making any payments. Police added that the manager positioned herself at the exit, in an attempt to stop subjects, who walked by her and left store.

Once outside of the store, the subject(s) got into an older-model, green, two-door automobile (possibly a Chevrolet) and fled east on Dutch Broadway.

Police said that the incident has been classified as petit larceny and is currently under investigation. Police declined to say what merchandise was taken.

Nassau County detectives are asking anyone with information about this crime to call (800) 244-TIPS.
