Taking charity to the sidewalks

Tulip Avenue right outside Sewanhaka High School was the place to be last weekend, as dozens of parents, students and teachers gathered to hold a flea market for a good cause.

The oft-postponed sale was held to honor the memory of Sewanhaka special education teacher Lisa Zahler, who lost her battle with cancer over the summer.

The proceeds from the flea market were donated to the Myelodysplastic Syndrome Foundation.

Zahler will be further honored with a brick in the school’s tribal grounds and a scholarship in her name.
