TKO Strong Foundation hosted fall fundraiser

Posted

To celebrate a fun day with family, TKO Strong Foundation hosted its 11th fall fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 25, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Plattduetsche Park Biergarten, 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square, NY 11010.

The afternoon festivities included a bounce house, inflatable slide, photo booth, face painting, carnival games, raffles, a silent auction and more, with live music by the RVC School of Rock. Organizers urged children to wear Halloween costumes for the parade.

The event aimed to raise awareness and funds to help find a cure for microvillus inclusion disease (MVID), also known as Davidson’s disease or congenital microvillus atrophy, a rare, severe, autosomal recessive genetic disorder that affects the lining of the small intestine.

James Fischman, a board member of the TKO Foundation, said the donations will support research that benefits anyone with MVID. “It's just getting the community together to have a nice day out,” Fischman said. “...We hope that families come out and enjoy a fun day out.”

There were around 20–30 local businesses that supported the fundraiser through sponsorships, money, or donated items. Fischman said donations can be made through the TKO Strong Foundation website, and he hoped attendees had a fun day with family and the wider community.
