This latest blast began Thursday afternoon in Nassau as rain, then heavy rain, and then as temperatures fell, morphed into snowflakes. Inch-by-stormy-inch, the snow piled up overnight to near a foot or so in western Nassau to somewhat less in mid- and eastern parts of the county. more

State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli recently completed audits of New York’s 733 public school districts and BOCES. The audits were part of a series of legislation following a scandal in the Roslyn School District in which administrators embezzled $11 million. more
After his review of all schools districts and BOCES in New York, state Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli cited several districts for having excess funds in its Employee Benefit Accrued Liability funds. more
