F.S. man arrested for local burglary
A Franklin Square man was arrested for burglary on Feb. 29 at 6:53 a.m. in Franklin Square, according to the 5th Precinct.

According to detectives, police officers from the 5th Precinct responded to a burglary call at Sleepy’s, located at 1080 Hempstead Turnpike, and when officers arrived, they were informed by a witness that a man had entered the rear of the store.

Police said that Vincent Piccinonno, 55, was found inside of the business, and was placed under arrest without incident. Piccinonno was charged with third-degree burglary, and was arraigned on March 1 at the First District Court in Hempstead.

Cops: 2 men rob student in Elmont
A 14-year-old man was robbed by two men while he was walking home from school, on Second Street in Elmont, on March 1 at 4:20 p.m., according to the 5th Precinct.

According to detectives, the victim was approached by the men and placed in a choke hold, and told by the men to, “Give us everything you got.” The victim then handed them his Droid cell phone, and the subjects fled southbound on Second Street, police said. No injuries were reported.
The subjects have been described as: a black man, 15-18 years old, 5’6” tall and 150 pounds, wearing a black hoodie, black pants, blue Nike sneakers and glasses; and a black man, 15-18 years old, 5’2” tall and 130 pounds, wearing a black hoodie, black pants and a red backpack.
 

Cops: Petro Gas robbed at gunpoint
A Petro Gas Station on Hempstead Turnpike in Elmont was robbed at gunpoint on Feb. 26, according to Nassau County police.

According to detectives, a black man wearing gloves and a doo-rag over his face entered gas station around 5 a.m. on Sunday, and displayed a black and silver handgun to the store clerk, demanding money.

Police said that after the employee complied and gave the gunman an unknown amount of cash, the suspect took 10 packs of cigarettes, a cell phone and a cordless phone that belonged to the gas station, and fled the scene in a late model brown Ford Explorer driven by a second black man.
According to police, no injuries relating to the robbery were reported.

Residential burglary
A home on Shelbourne Drive in Franklin Square was reportedly burglarized on Feb. 27, between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Grand larceny, motor vehicle

A vehicle that was parked on Courthouse Road in Franklin Square on Feb. 27, between 3:20 p.m. and 3:25 p.m., was reportedly stolen.

Grand larceny, tires and rims
Four tires and rims were stolen from a vehicle that was parked on Diellen Lane in Elmont between 10:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 6:20 .am. on Feb. 24.

Four tires and rims were stolen from a vehicle that was parked in the driveway of a residence on Norfeld Boulevard in Elmont, between 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 23 and 7 a.m. on Feb. 24.

Larceny, theft offenses
A Honda ECU Computer was reportedly stolen from Tarboro Street in Elmont on Feb. 26, at 3:42 a.m.

Criminal mischief
The rear-driver side tire of a vehicle that was parked on Crown Avenue in Elmont was reportedly slashed between 7 p.m. on Feb. 20 and 6 a.m. on Feb. 21.

People named in Crime Watch items as having been arrested and charged with violations or crimes are only suspected of committing those acts of which they are accused. They are all presumed to be innocent of those charges until and unless found guilty in a court of law.
