Cops: Elmont man robbed at gunpoint

A robbery occurred in Elmont on April 6 at 2:13 a.m., according to 5th Precinct police.

According to detectives, a 28-year-old man was entering his residence on Cromer Road West, when he was approached by two unknown black men — the first of whom was described as 18-20 years old, 5’7” and 200 pounds, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black Adidas sweatpants with a white stripe; and the second as 18-22 years old, 5’10” and 160 pounds, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt

One of the suspects displayed a handgun while the other searched the victim’s pockets and took a credit card, before they entered a white Toyota Rav 4 that was occupied by two unknown persons and fled westbound on Cromer Road West, police said. No injuries were reported.

Elmont, Laurelton drivers arrested in Westbury

According to local police, two local drivers — one from Elmont — were arrested after speeding on April 8 at 2:20 a.m., near Exit 40 in Old Westbury.

Joel Wright of Laurelton and Lesly Chery of Elmont were charged with reckless endangerment and illegal speed contest, police said. Wright was also charged with driving while intoxicated, and Chery also was charged with driving while alcohol impaired.

 

Grand larceny, motor vehicle

On March 30, between 12:30 a.m. and 11 a.m., a vehicle was reportedly stolen from Claridge Avenue in Elmont.

 

Larceny, theft offenses

Between 11 p.m. on March 29 and 7 a.m. on March 30, electronic items were stolen from a vehicle on Kruze Street in Franklin Square, according to 5th Precinct officers.

Electronic items were also reportedly stolen on April 1, between 3:30 a.m. and 8 a.m., from an unlocked vehicle that was parked on Jacob Street in Elmont.


Criminal mischief

An unknown person reportedly broke a store window by unknown means at a King Kullen store on New Hyde Park Road in Franklin Square on March 29, at 10:40 a.m.

An unknown suspect broke into the upstairs bedroom window of a home on Cherry Lane in Franklin Square between 12 p.m. and 6 p.m. on March 30, according to police.

 

Unauthorized practice of a crime

On March 28, the 5th Precinct POP/PEP Office along with detectives from NVB conducted an investigation into illegal massage parlors in the Franklin Square area, including at the Quality Qi Qong Tuina, at 2:30 p.m. According to police, a detective did receive an unlicensed massage from an employee, Zhijie Zhang of Flushing.

On March 28 at 1:30 p.m., the 5th Precinct POP/PEP Office along with detectives from NVB conducted an investigation into illegal massage parlors in the Elmont area, including at the W & W Wellness Center. According to police, a detective did receive an unlicensed massage from an employee, Zhenping Jiang of Flushing.
