Elmont HS closed after staff member tests positive for Covid

Elmont Memorial High School students are learning remotely on Oct. 15 and 16, after Sewanhaka Central High School District officials were informed by the Nassau County Department of Health that a staff member has tested positive for Covid-19.

The two-day closure would enable the Department of Health to conduct contact tracing, Superintendent James Grossane wrote in a message to parents on Oct. 14, and the building would be deep cleaned and disinfected on Oct. 16.

Once the contact tracing is complete, he said, district officials would finalize the length of the school closure.

“As always,” Grossane said, “the health and safety of our students, faculty and staff are our top priority.”
