Franklin Square natives work to relocate trapeze company

The flying trapeze is no longer limited to just circus acts and carnival shows, thanks to a Long Island recreational trapeze company. I.FLY, which was founded in 2006 by Anthony and Marco Rosamilia, two brothers from Franklin Square, offers exciting programs for both adults and children to enjoy, but is currently facing a challenge to keep their high flying excitement alive.

The company, which was housed in Rockville Centre for the past five years, is now in the process of relocating due to a property conflict. Marco said he and his brother were informed by the village’s Parks Department in October that the property they were on was classified as a preserve, so they weren’t permitted to conduct business there.

“We were off to a good start back then but things have slowed since,” Marco said, adding that he and Anthony are determined to keep I.FLY up and running on Long Island, and they submitted a proposal to the Village of Freeport in December to bring I.FLY to the south end of Woodcleft Canal.

“I.FLY believes that flying trapeze will help revitalize the struggling area year-round. Woodcleft Canal would become a destination where people can spend a full day with the family, spend money at local businesses, and look forward to coming back,” Marco said. “I.FLY is still looking for other potential locations and welcomes interested property owners, businesses, communities, towns, parks, and camps to contact us with leads ... .”

With a plan to re-open in April, I.FLY is counting on the support of its customers, and/or the approval from the Village of Freeport, whose board of trustees has not yet made a decision on the proposal. Marco said I.FLY has also proposed the idea of working with the village’s Recreation Department to offer community trapeze programs. “We’ve received nothing but praise for the activity and the manner in which we deliver the product ... we’re very personable and have a hospitality background,” Marco said. “Along with good teaching techniques, we help all our participants accomplish something.”
