Washington Street School staff member tests negative

A staff member at the Washington Street School has tested negative for the coronavirus, Franklin Square Superintendent Jared Bloom posted on the district’s website on March 19, although a frequent visitor to the schools has tested positive.

Bloom previously sent a letter to parents saying the Washington Street employee had direct contact with a “close relative” who tested positive. As a result, Bloom said, schools would be closed on March 13, while the district performed a deep cleaning of its schools.

The staff member’s relative has since passed away.

The district has also been informed, however, that a visitor “who has frequented all three of our buildings” tested positive for the virus, Bloom wrote, and the district therefore performed another deep cleaning and sanitizing on March 20.
