Posted

Summer is in full swing across Franklin Square and Elmont, with live music, tropical festivities and pickle-themed fun on tap in the coming weeks. From a neighborhood concert and family luau to a festival celebrating all things pickled, residents will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy the season close to home.

  1. Summer concert lights up Rath Park

The Town of Hempstead will host a Neighborhood Block Party Concert at 8 p.m. on July 25 at Rath Park in Franklin Square, offering residents a free evening of live entertainment and community fun. Entertainer Joe Piscopo will headline the event with a big band tribute to Frank Sinatra, blending music, comedy and storytelling. Food trucks will be on site serving a variety of options, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. The concert, presented by the Town of Hempstead and Supervisor John Ferretti, is part of the town’s summer concert series celebrating local neighborhoods.

  1. Tropical fun heads to Elmont

Residents can bring a taste of the tropics to Elmont on Aug. 8 as the Town of Hempstead’s Traveling Summer Luau makes its stop at Averill Boulevard Park from 1 to 5 p.m. The family-friendly event will feature live music, inflatable attractions, mocktails and tropical-themed activities for all ages. Guests are encouraged to wear their favorite Hawaiian attire and enjoy an afternoon inspired by island culture without leaving Long Island. Averill Boulevard Park is located at 145 Averill Blvd. in Franklin Square. Admission is free, and the event is open to residents looking for a fun summer outing.
