During Bayview Avenue School Of Arts and Sciences’ annual International Firefighters Luncheon, third-grade students honored the dedicated volunteers of the Freeport Fire Department. The luncheon, in its 20th year, recognizes the bravery and service of local firefighters through student performances and presentations focused on fire safety and community appreciation.

“We salute the members of the Freeport Fire Department for their unwavering dedication to protecting our community,” event organizer and Bayview social worker Lucy Pigliacelli said. “Their courage, commitment and service continue to inspire our students and school community.”

Bayview students received Junior Fire Marshal Awards as part of the celebration for scoring 100 percent on their Junior Fire Marshal quizzes and showing exceptional knowledge of fire safety standards studied in class. Fire department representatives joined district and school administrators in presenting certificates to the students. Additionally, students entertained guests with fire safety songs, poetry and cultural dance performances.

The luncheon highlighted the strong partnerships between Freeport Public Schools and the Freeport Fire Department, whose volunteer firefighters continue to play an important role in supporting the community.
