Community partners give back to Archer Street School in Freeport

Our community partners play an important role in supporting our students and families.
– Fia Davis, Superintendent of Freeport Public Schools

Students at the Archer Street Elementary School in Freeport received 200 new backpacks to help them start the school year. The bags came thanks to partnerships between Freeport Public Schools and several community leaders.

With high costs of living in and around Nassau County not being helped by the extensive needs students have for each school year, community partners stepped in to assist students at the Archer Street School.

The community partners who contributed the bookbags were New York State Senator Siela Bynoe, Nassau County Legislator Debra Mulé, JetBlue and José Cuevas, vice president of John F. Kennedy International Airport’s Terminal 5 Fraport USA.

The Archer Street School community, which contains over 400 students, was significantly helped at the beginning of their 2026-2027 school year.

“Our community partners play an important role in supporting our students and families,” Freeport Public Schools Superintendent Fia Davis said. “We are deeply grateful for their generosity and continued commitment to helping our students begin the school year prepared, confident and ready to learn.”
