Organized through the My Brother’s Keeper program and themed “The Return of the Classic Man,” Roosevelt High School hosted its inaugural Men’s Brunch. During the event, students, mentors, families and community members came together for an uplifting morning focused on leadership, character development and the importance of positive role models.
The brunch, on May 30, included a series of inspiring speeches, interactive leadership activities and team-building games designed to strengthen confidence, collaboration and personal growth among students. Attendees interacted in meaningful dialogue and shared experiences aimed at reinforcing the value of mentorship and community support.
“Events such as our Men’s Brunch reflect the heart of our mission as a district—building strong, confident, young people who are prepared to lead with integrity and purpose,” Superintendent of Schools Shawn Wightman said. “We are proud of our continued involvement with My Brother’s Keeper and the meaningful opportunities it provides for our students to grow, connect and thrive.”
Roosevelt is one of 36 communities throughout New York involved in the My Brother’s Keeper program. The program provides resources aimed at improving outcomes for boys and young men of color while helping them reach their full potential.
