The Gold Coast Dance Festival returned to Morgan Memorial Park on Aug. 1, bringing together professional dancers from some of the nation’s most acclaimed companies for a free evening celebrating dance across genres and cultures. Presented by New York Dance Theatre, the festival featured performances by artists representing Broadway, New York City Ballet, Dance Theatre of Harlem, the Martha Graham Dance Company, Ballet Nepantla, MorDance, the Jon Lehrer Dance Company and other organizations, alongside students from Long Island High School for the Arts. Before the performance, festivalgoers also had the opportunity to participate in a free introductory swing dance lesson on the beach, while donations collected during the event supported New York Dance Theatre’s Développé outreach program, which provides arts education, performances and scholarships for at-risk youth, foster families and English-language-learning families.
