Sea Cliff General hosts new book signing

Fitness fans packed the Sea Cliff General Store Saturday as Peloton Instructor Hannah Corbin took the stage, opening the afternoon with a talk and Q and A session. She discussed stretching and how fitness helps her with her autoimmune disease and hypermobility.

Attendees’ questions centered around her work at Peloton, her training routine and staying motivated. Corbin interacted with participants throughout the afternoon, signing books and taking photos.

General Store Owner Laura Bonelli said in advance of the event that she and her husband and co-owner, Ralph, were “so grateful to have had this opportunity” to host Corbin’s book signing.
People of all ages and from across Long Island attended. They got books signed, took photos with Corbin and shopped.

Nancy Alt, a retired elementary school teacher, said she bought Corbin’s book “Did You Stretch Tho: 52 Stretches to Increase Flexibility, Balance, and Performance” to add more stretching to her workouts which include mainly cycling and running. She purchased a Peloton bike in 2023 and said she has been participating in Corbin’s rides since then.

“She’s right where I am. Not too easy, not too hard,” Alt said. “And of course, she’s like sunshine. You can’t leave a ride in a bad mood.”

Alt grew up in Sea Cliff and now lives in Bellport, New York. She said that she was surprised Corbin was visiting Sea Cliff and bought a ticket as soon as she found out.

“I love when my worlds collide,” she said.

In the days leading up to the event, Laura said that she hoped attendees would have a good time meeting Corbin. Alt described Corbin as “better than I ever could have imagined” after meeting her.

Sea Cliff General will participate in the Coalition to Save Hempstead Harbor’s Crawl for a Cause fundraiser on Saturday. The Bonellis will also host a Girl Scout troop selling cookies on Sunday.
