Long Beach man arrested for assault on Oceanside nurse

Police arrested a Long Beach resident following an assault on a Mount Sinai South Nassau nurse on Saturday, April 20, at 9:30 p.m. in Oceanside.

Police were dispatched to Mount Sinai South Nassau Hospital, at 1 One Healthy Way, in response to a report of an assault on a registered nurse. Omid Zar, 53, of Long Beach, exhibited violent behavior towards hospital staff, repeatedly striking the nurse in the abdomen and causing significant pain. Zar was arrested without further altercation.

Zar faces charges of assault and was arraigned on Monday, April 22, at First District Court, located at 99 Main Street, Hempstead.
