The Point Set Racquet Club in Oceanside hosted a street-renaming ceremony on

May 7.

New Street, where Point Set is located, was officially renamed Dwyer Way by the Town of Hempstead, in honor of the late Daniel Dwyer, a managing partner with the tennis club.

Dwyer died almost a year ago on May 25, 2010 of a sudden heart attack. He was 68 years old.

He was a tennis enthusiast and a past president of the USTA Eastern section. He tutored world-class players such as Gene and Sandy Mayer, John Sullivan and hundreds of junior players ranked nationally in the U.S. Tennis Association.
