Members of the Oceanside Fire Department got ready to break bottles of champagne over one of their new trucks, which were purchased to replace the 15-year-old ladder trucks the Salamander Company had been using.

On Nov. 13, the Oceanside Fire Department christened its two newest trucks in a ceremonial wetdown.
The department broke bottles of champagne over the bumpers of its two newest rides: a 2010 and a 2011 Seagraves truck. They will be replacing tower ladder and bucket ladder trucks in the Salamander Hook, Ladder and Bucket Company. The trucks need to be replaced every 15 years.
